NMC Guidelines, simplified
Everything Indian medical aspirants need to know about practicing in India after MBBS abroad.
Eligibility (NMC 2021 Regulations)
- •NEET qualification mandatory
- •10+2 with PCB minimum 50% (40% reserved)
- •Course duration: minimum 54 months
- •Internship: minimum 12 months at the same institution
FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam)
- •Conducted twice a year by NBE
- •Pass mark: 50%
- •Mandatory for practice in India
- •Followed by 1-year Indian internship
NExT (National Exit Test)
- •Replaces FMGE upon implementation
- •Common exit exam for Indian and FMG graduates
- •Step 1 (Theory) + Step 2 (Practical)
- •Also used for PG entrance
Internship Guidelines
- •12 months in NMC-approved Indian hospital
- •Stipend as per institution
- •Mandatory before final registration
- •Permanent registration after completion
